The boy who saved me

lily suffered something tragic.

I looked around at the snow falling, smiling big “I love the snow. It’s so magical.” I held my hands up and spun around laughing. “We should build a snowman after. Or have a race to see who can build one the fastest.”

I laughed and watched her pulling my phone out without her seeing and taking some photos. She was beautiful. “I think I would crush you at building a snowman!” I said walking over to her. “So if you wanna lose then be my guest!”

I raised a brow “Oh is that so?” I grinned, walking along the pathway more. “Hmm, well we will see about that. So burgers and shakes, hopefully they still make the cheesy fries.”

Smiling. “They do! But they added some stuff too I like the dumpster fries!” I said rubbing my belly. “There is some things you will like too.” I was so happy she was having a good time and wasn’t really thinking about what happened to her.

“Dumpster fries? What are they?” I looked confused. “Maybe we should order both to have.” I suggested. “Are you nervous about moving? You know, i will come visit you when you get your own apartment.”

I smiled “we can order whatever you want and they are fries loaded with cheese, chili, jalapeños, sour cream, tomatoes and more!” I looked at her and smiled more. “Of course you will be! I’m really excited about moving. I’ve always wanted to move there. I’m excited for schoool as well. I can help you out to with school.”

“I don’t think I’m going back to school.. I just can’t deal with it all.” I said quietly. “Hmm, I’ll leave the dumpster fries to you, I don’t like jalapeños.” I grinned “but definitely cheesy ones.” Our hands brushed and my heart raced from the electricity on the touch.

“I understand not wanting to go back, but your a smart girl and need to get your education. I can help you with home school.” I said grabbing her hand. “If you want that is. We can study together.” I held her hand wondering if she would pull it away when she didn’t I smiled to myself. “Jalapeños are so good how can you not like them!”

“Because they’re hot. I’m not a huge lover of spicy foods.” I smiled. “Maybe home school but that’s the last thing on my mind right now.” I glanced down at our hands holding, my heart was racing like crazy.

I nodded. “Oh no you don’t like spicy food? Oh nope we can’t be friends any longer! Who are you!” I joked with her letting her hand go as I acted hurt. Laughing a little I took her hand back in mine and smiled. “So what is going on in that beautiful head of yours?”

“I don’t know.. how come you’re only telling me now that you like me?” I asked pointing out with a curious smile.

I laughed. “You have four older brothers two who happen to be good friends of mine. Plus your dad can be scary! He use to fight professionally!” I smiled. “But I wanted you to be able to live your life. I wanted to wait till I could be closer to you that way if you get the same it wouldn’t be a long distance relationship. I wanted to have your friendship first as well.” I answered honestly.

“I guess my brothers could make it hare, and my dad is scary at times.” I laughed, glancing over at him. “I can’t promise a whole lot, my head is a mess and you deserve better than my baggage. Small steps tho, I’m able to do slow and small”

“I’m able to wait!” We continued walking and holding hands. “You starting to get hungry or cold? We should go get lunch. But let’s take my truck!” I offered she had to be getting cold.

“Yeah freezing.” I agreed, nodding. “And I’m a bit hungry. All this talk about food, may even have to stop by the candy shop on our way back.”

Laughing. “We can do that.” We walked back to my house and I helped her into my truck heading to the diner. As we got inside and sat down the waitress who I knew from school smiled and asked if I was ready for college. “Yeah I’m actually going to be heading to the states soon.”

“That’s amazing I wish I could have joined you there.” She smiled at lily “your not from here are you? Are you going to college in the states too?”

I smiled. “This is my good friend lily you remember I told you about her and her family! They are just visiting now.”

“Ohh this is lily! Wow she is beautiful! And yes I remember all about what you told me wait does that mean your brothers are here too! Damn I have seen photos of them they are hot!”

“Yeah that’s pretty much the usual comment most girls say about them.” I laughed, cringing. “Umm anyway, I’ll just have a small strawberry shake and small cheesy fries thanks.” I said putting my menu down on the table.

I smiled hoping the she got the hint to leave us be.  “I’ll take my normal.”  I didn’t take my eyes off lily for one second.  

“Alright coming up!”  She said walking off.

“So will you at least try some of my food when it comes?”

“Maybe, I’ll try those dumpster fries or whatever they’re called” I smiled. “So you come here often then, is she one of your girlfriends?”

Shaking my head. “She is a friend, I don’t have girlfriends when my heart belongs to you. I told you this. I told her all about my feelings and she is one of my friends who said I needed to tell you.” I smiled. “I’m not the type to waste someone’s time. I don’t want anyone else.”

“What if you change your mind once we start dating?” I asked nervously. “I can’t guve you what I know all boys want.. I’m not sure when I’ll be ready for that, the thought scares me.. I’ve never had a boyfriend before.” I reminded. “You’ll get bored and end up finding someone new and exciting. I just couldn’t take you hurting me like that when I’ve loved you since we first met.” I said not realising what slipped out

I smiled. I didn’t say a thing at first just sat and smiled at her. “Do you think you could feel the same way for someone else as you feel for me?” She shook her head. “Okay then now I know I can’t I tried once I went out on a date actually with your brother trying to get over my feelings for you by guess what I hated it and I only love you more each day.” I picked her hand up holding it in mine. “I’m not going anywhere I will wait for you, then when your ready I’ll be by your side till I die.”
