Oh, Baby! Baby!

She’s longed for a baby, afraid she would never get that chance, she took matters into her own hands and went through a donor clinic. She chose not to find out anything about the donor.

He donated on a whim years ago, strapped for cash before making something of himself. Now, he wonders if he ever had a child out there who looked like him, or if it was just balboas he shot. He’s never told this to anybody.

Four months pregnant, she wishes she could have someone to share this with, but knows it would be impossible. When people ask about the father, she lies and says he left her when he found out. And then she meets him, and he’s everything she ever wants in a man, but will he run after finding out she’s pregnant?

When he finds out she had a baby to a donor, he can’t help but wonder...

I shook my head. “No hazel I’m the lucky one. And you are absolutely the most beautifuliest woman here!” I didn’t like that she worked so much. “Shouldn’t you be relaxing more than working doubles that can’t be good for the baby?”

“True, but in my quest for a baby, I realised I needed to save like crazy for when I take maternity leave. And I love my job, so it isn’t an issue. I’ll slow down when im closer to my due date, but until then I have bills to pay.” I smiled, taking my drink and having a mouthful.

I smiled. “What is it you do?” I asked wondering more about this baby. “When is your due date? And why the hell don’t you have a boyfriend? Cause I’m really finding it hard to see the whys?”

“I’m a paramedic.” I wanted to know all about him. “The last guy I had a relationship with.. well let’s just say it didn’t end well.” I looked at him “how about you? Surely you’re never single for long enough.”

I groaned. “Hell a paramedic! Hazel I really hope you are being careful! That’s what you worked a 24 hour shift pretty much?” I was amazed. “Well he is a idiot, it seems to me you are the real deal.” I winked and took a drink first. “I own my own recording records. You may have heard of it Empire Records.” I saw her eyes go wide. “Yeah I had to go through a lot to get where I am now and the artist I work with are amazing some have become good friends but I just never have made time to date. So I haven’t had a girlfriend in a long long time I haven’t even went on a date in over a year or so.”

He must use tinder frequently then. “Wow, that’s amazing. You must be very rewarded in your career.” I couldn’t believe that I was on a date with him. “Work is good, I enjoy it. And I also love steak, so I’m going to order that with a pasta.”

I laughed. “You can get whatever you want.” I looked down and saw they had my favorite as a special tonight. “I love my job but like I said I had a tuff time getting where I am I had to start from the very bottom I was so poor I thought about selling a kidney.” I couldn’t told her I sold my sperm she would leave considering here she sat pregnant.

“Oh what? Jesus!” I laughed as that I as extreme “I completely understand tho, the lengths we go to for survival.” I looked at him, and smiled “Do you work crazy hours all the time? I can’t imagine you get much sleep either.”

Laughing. “I hardly sleep, so yes I’m working all the time. But I’m wanting to try to not work so much, I feel like I’m missing a big part of my life.” I sighed. “My brother and his wife died in a car accident recently and it’s opened my eyes a little has made me think about some choices I’ve made in the past you know.”

“Jesus, I’m sorry.” And then I looked at him.
“Wait, were they just off the bridge? A drunk driver hit them didn’t they?” I knew because I was called out to the scene.

I nodded. “Yeah, the driver didn’t make it either. It was a bad night they just found out that she was pregnant and came over to tell me all about it but I wasn’t there. I was at my office so they were heading there to tell me.” I put my head in my hands. “God I’m so sorry this is a terrible first date discussion.”

I just laughed, agreeing “yeah probably. So umm, what do you do on your days off? Or you don’t really have time off do you. You already mentioned that. Hmm.” this was hard. “Do you like the snow?”

I smiled. “I do actually, sometimes I prefer the snow over the warm holidays you know it’s good weather to just sit by a fire and read or talk.” I looked around “how about you? Do you like the snow or the sun? Or both?” She was easy to talk to.

“I love the snow, I went skiing last year, and nearly broke my collarbone.” I laughed. “A book, hot drink and a fire is perfect.” I looked up, damn he was handsome

I smiled.  “Sounds perfect, we should go to my cabin before the baby comes for a relaxing weekend, but no skiing for you!” I shook my head no way would I let her go and hurt herself. I can’t believe I was making plans for us like that.  But like I said there is something about her.

“Really? You have a snow cabin?” Wow! Lucky him. I didn’t read too much into what he said, he probably didn’t mean it. “I think if I was away for a weekend I’d end up asleep and missing the whole thing. I usually work weekends.”

I shook my head. “Okay so we will go for a week!” I smiled at her and reached across the table. “I don’t know what it is about you but I feel drawn to you.” Our food came and we are making small talk. Once our night was coming to a end I offered a walk before leaving. With her hand in mine I smiled and loved how this was feeling. “So our next date I think I’ll cook for you.”

“Famous last words, and extremely confident that there will be another date.” I really couldn’t help but smile as I thought of that. “You’ll have to tell me when you’re free, so I can see if I am too.”

I smiled. “Tomorrow?” She looked confused and startled. “To soon? Um see I’m so out of my element with you! How about this we can do lunch a few time this week, you can just come to my office when you have free time and then we can figure out when I’m going to cook for you?”

I looked at him, dipping both brows “really? Just turn up to your office.. no offence, that isn’t very chivalrous of you. And uh, i don’t really get a lunch break. I just eat on the go.. it’s usully at the hospital cafeteria if I do get time off between jobs.” This was proving harder than I thought to be.

I sighed. “Okay yeah I didn’t like about any of that. Well it looks like when your working we won’t be able to get together so just let me know what days you have off and I will surprise you!” I winked fuck she had me wrapped around her finger and I haven’t even kissed her.

“I shall check my schedule and let you know.” I smiled, then noticed just how late it had gotten. “I should go, I start work again at 6am, a girl needs her beauty sleep.” I turned looking up at him “I had a really nice time.”

I smiled. “Me to I can’t wait to do this again.” I paused and looked at her. “I want to kiss you!” I waited then she nodded and I leaned in and kissed her softly. It was the best kiss I’ve ever had.

Oh damn did I melt into him. Wow. I don’t know if it was my hormones or what, but I was soaking wet. I’ve never felt that from just a kiss before. “I can’t wait to see you again.” I kissed him once more before I left for home. Laying in bed, my smile never faltered as I fell asleep. The next morning, I was grabbing lunch In my blue overalls with my belly poking out and noticed the records sign up above me, he did say I could visit. Hopefully this was alright. I walked up to the reception and being in uniform they usully jumped to help right away and rushed off to get him when I asked.

“There’s an ambulance officer here, she’s asking for you.. what’s happened?!” The reception asked in a mad panic

This made me smile. “Hazel! Oh send her in right away, nothing is wrong she is a friend and is welcome back in my office whenever!” I put my papers up and stood waiting on hazel. I was so surprised when she walked in looking all cute. I walked over to her. “Hey this is a surprise!” I kissed her softly and this shocked my receptionist.
