Friendly exes!

They met, fell in love and married.. had a child but then drifted and separated. There was never any anger or fighting, they just simply grew apart and became more friends than lovers.. and even now, he comes to visit and she visits him.. they hang out and believe being this way is best for their 6 year old son.

How long can being just friends last when the topic of dating other people comes up.. have they really outgrown each other or are they just too scared to give it another go?

We had made a tent out of sheets and the kids were sleeping there tonight in the living room. Halfway through the movie they fell asleep and I posted a photo of the kids in the tent on Facebook and tagged it under #babysitting #3kids #sendwine. It was a cute picture of them. I went to the kitchen and poured another glass of wine to finish off.

I got a notification posted by sage so of course I jumped on it to look at it. Once I saw the photo and read it I wanted to scream. I could have been there to help, to enjoy this with her. I felt even more like shit. I texted her. -nice photo, I have more wine need me to bring it over? - I always had a few bottles for her. IT was her favorite kind too.

I glanced at my empty glass and text back - your date finish early? Night you were busy tonight with plans.- I sent it and realised how bitchy that sounded so I went another straight after - yes I need a bottle -

I sighed. She thought I had a date. Why would she think that? -on my way- I sent and grabbed the bottle and some beer and went to her place. Once I got there I sat in the car. So confused. -meet me in the back on the deck- I got out and walked around I didn't want to wake the kids. I sat there and opened a beer. I heard the door open and smiled.

"Why are we out here for?" I asked pulling my jacket around my body as I sat beside him with my legs in the rail. I held my glass up to him "mama needs some wine. I got burnt at the beach today." I poured showing off my red shoulder "i couldn't reach that far."

I shook my head "you need some aloe on that princess."  I took a drink of beer.  "Didn't want to wake the kids and it's pretty nice out."  I looked up at the stars.  "So you had a good day today, I see, mine sucked plans fell through Jake had forgot about are plans and made a date so I was home working on my car.  Cut my hand pretty good."  Okay yeah I did. It not on my car I punched the damn wall thinking of her with chris.

"You need to be careful." I pointed out racking for his hand to inspect. "So what plans fell through? Your date with miss lady in red and skin tight?" I picked up my glass still holding his hand in the other "Tommy missed you at the beach today, he built a sandcastle then the waves knocked it right over. I think the salt water tired him out today, they're all asleep which is good."

I sighed keeping a hold of her hand. "Nah no date, like I said Jake and I had plans to watch the race and drink some beers then work on my engine but he told me he forgot and had a date." I shook my head. "So I watched some of the race and worked on my car." Which I did do. "I missed tommy too wish I was there with you both today would have been fun and I would have made sure you didn't burn."

"Oh." I wondered why he said otherwise at the car shop. "Well now I blame you for the reason I'm burnt." I grinned squeezing his hand. "Ive got two extra kids for the weekend, talk about full on. Now I know why we never had more."

I smirked. "Oh! Could you please explain this to me because I wanted a house full I loved when you were pregnant you were so beautiful." I really did love it she was always beautiful but there was just something about her when she was pregnant.

I laughed "yes I know! I'm sorry, you did want a houseful of them" he had always been an incredible father. "Maybe one day Tommy will have siblings. He's never asked for any, and fingers crossed he doesn't once his friends go back home."

I smiled. Maybe it was the beer talking or maybe I was just being silly but I said. "And if he wants another, we will just have to get busy and worn on that for him princess!" I winked at her and squeezed her hand.

I blushed, knowing he wasn't serious but played along "sure, I'll let you know when I'm ovulating and you can just come over and do your work." I giggled.

"Hey now it's no laughing matter princess, what Tommy wants, Tommy gets!" She was adorable when she blushed. I sighed and looked at her seriously. "You know if be glad to give you another child if you really wanted."

"Really? In our current situation you would be fine to do that? What about your potential lovers? They'd be heart broken to know you were barebacking in me and fathering another child." I'm sure he wasn't meaning it.

I laughed. "Sage, we both know living in this little town I don't have any lovers. Besides if I did they would have to be okay with what you and I have or they would need to get lost." I sighed. "I know our relationship isn't what people call normal but I don't know if I would ever want to get back in that game you know. I'm content with my life." Somewhat. I thought to myself.

"Really? So you'd be ok to have a child and we still live apart?" I hadn't ever thought about a situation like that before. "I mean of course I wanted more kids, Tommys in school, I'm getting older. I always imagined at least two."

I smiled. "I mean it's not ideal but if you asked me then yeah I would." I smirked. "It would be fun making another!" I squeezed her hand and laughed. I would love to love on her that way.

"I think it'd be fun to just have sex." I winked. "I miss being kissed and held. It can be lonely, especially when Tommys staying with you for a weekend or during the week." I missed it terribly. "I'm not sure someone out there would understand our situation."

I laughed. "Sex would be fun. Drink up and we can find out." I looked back up and smiled. "No I suppose your right I can't see anyone understanding us hell I don't even understand us sometimes. You know and I totally get the lonely when Tommy is here I know I probably come by way too much but I don't like being alone."

"Hey, you're keeping me company." I grinned. "You don't have to leave all the time either, you're welcome to stay if you want to wake up with Tommy for breakfast you know." I tilted my empty glass at him "refill baby daddy. Oh I told that woman you're gay too. I don't like her."

I held the wine away from her . "Wait what? Who did you tell I was gay and why?" I was confused and baffled did that mean someone liked me and she was jealous. "Tell me or no wine my baby momma!"

"That woman you keep going on about at the car shop, she's new or whatever." I rolled my eyes "she sat beside up telling me how hot you were and reckons she'll turn you straight." Saying it out lout like that made me realise how stupid it was what I done. "Sorry. Bet she's probably still interested if you called."

I laughed. "I'm not interested. She's too flashy! I like my woman barefoot and country!" I winked and poured her a glass making sure to give her more than abnormal glass. "So I should be thanking you, what does my baby momma want?"

"A baby." I smirked drinking anther mouthful. This was good wine. Maybe I have had enough but I was feeling happy. "A daughter to dress up and do her hair."
