That was just a couple ways to describe their marriages. Both not looking for something else, until a work trip arises and then something new is found. There are rules. No love. Just sex and friendship.

Until that weekend camping.. jealousy and guilt hits them hard. One wants something more.. the other doesn’t.

I shook my head, caught off guard. Walking to the door I closed it and all it took was one look back at him before the tears pooled in my eyes again “I’m sorry, I just had a rough night.. This is extremely embarrassing, I didn’t think anyone would know.. but smiling and pretending is just not working anymore.” I cried again, shaking my head “I just.. sometimes it’s nice to belive in that happy ending, I know I’m all hearts and flowers but it’s all I have to hold onto and belive one day I’ll have that.”

I didn’t know what to do or say so I just pulled her into me and hugged her.  “Hey you never know you can still have it.” I rubbed her back hating that she was hurting. I sighed she needs this trip more than I do it seems.  “I believe you will be okay jayde you’re are strong woman.” Fuck I didn’t want to let her go I wanted to keep holding her.

“Sometimes I wonder if I will be.” I looked at him, biting my lip. The way his hands felt on my body, I tried to think of something else but it was incredible hard not to. “Sorry, I shouldn’t be unloading all of this on you. It isn’t fair.”

I shook my head. “No what isn’t fair is you feelingthis way. You deserve to be happy jayde.” God if she didn’t stop biting her lip I was going to do something so stupid like kiss her. “I’ll always be here if you need to unload.” I said just as the bell rang. I took my thumb and wiped her eyes. “Kids will be coming in soon how about we eat lunch in here instead of the staff room today.”

“I’d like that a lot.” I smiled at him, pulling back as the kids were growing louder outside the door. “Thankyou again. I appreciate you and your kindness a lot.”

I laughed. “My kindness? You’re the one always bringing me coffee in the morning! I don’t know what I’d do without you!” I squeezed her arm a little hoping she felt a little better. “I’ll be here at lunch!” I walked back to my room imagining her bitting her damn lip and fuck what I wouldn’t give to be the one bitting it.

How could I focus when all I thought about was lunch time. I was so nervous for some ridiculous reason and I tried not to watch the clock but I kept looking at it. The bell rang, my heart jumped and I stared up as the door opened after my last students had left. “Hi.” I said, smiling at him. God he was handsome

I smiled and said hello as I walked over she looked better. “Feeling better I hope!” I sat across from her and opened my sandwich. “Let’s see how good your pb&j’s are!” I took a big bite and I swear she had just the right combination I didn’t mean to but I groaned. “Damn jayde! Bust damn pb&j I’ve ever had! Better than my mums but don’t tel her.”

“TjYs a huge statement,” I laughed. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell.” I opened up mine, and took a bite, moaning softly “so good! Are your all packed for the weekend? Is your wife doing parent help at all?” Maybe she would come up with him.

I laughed. “No she won’t be. In fact she won’t even have our child I’ll be taking her to my parents for the weekend as my wife just I don’t know isn’t good with kids.” I sighed. “But I’ve been packed for a while now. To be honest I’m looking forward to it. What about you?” I was just telling her all my secret about my wife and I didnt even think twice about it.

He didn’t think his wife was good with their child?! I was shocked. “My boys are goung to stay with my sister and her husband, they have kids so the boys will enjoy playing with cousins.” I smiled relieved. “My husband, lets just say he’s not around to watch them at times.”

I nodded. “It’s sad isn’t it?” I took a deep breath. “So this weekend will be good for us both! I won’t have to worry about Macy and you won’t need to worry about your boys!” I reached over and placed my hand on hers. “We will sneak a adult drink and relax!”

I glanced down at our hands, this was wrong. So wrong. Pull away and stop. I didn’t though. I looked up, my heart racing again as I realised how close we were “shots in your room? I think that sounds like a plan.”

Laughing I pulled my hand away. “Shots huh! This could be trouble.” I smiled looking at her. “You realize that right? I hardly ever drink so shots will hit me hard and fast.”

“I never drink, so I may be passed out after the second one.” I laughed with him. “I sort of thought you were a man who drank.” I teased with a smile

I shook my head. “No I don’t see the point in getting to the point of not knowing what you are truly doing. I mean a drink here and there fine but to do it all the time and black out what’s the point?” I noticed her look. “Shit that is what your husband does?”

“Yeah, he’s a heavy drinker. He flies into a rage now and then most evenings so the kids and I try to avoid him when we can.” I tried making light of it. “I don’t drink because I’m always on edge around drinkers, but I just need a weekend away. I just need to unwind and relax. Even if it’s for a school trip.”

I looked at her for a long time. I didn’t like the thoughts going through my head. Did her husband hit her? I get saw any marks but that doesn’t mean anything. “Yeah wel we both need a weekend and we will have it this weekend.” I winked I felt like I had to protect her.

“I think there’s a lot of schoolgirls hoping Mr Smith will get his shirt off and swim with them.” I laughed “there’s even a bet going.”

I shook my head. “Yeah well maybe I’ll just wait till they are all in bed and take a certain teacher down for a late night swim instead.” Laughing. “I swear I don’t ever remember girls being like they are now when I was younger. So tell me have you ladies always been like this?”

“Oh I think we’ve always been like this, just these days they’re more confident to show it. I have three girls who have a bet that they’ll seduce you before the prom night. It’s quite funny.” I crossed my leg over, not noticing my skirt rose and my thigh was more exposed. “Boys are the same, not about bedding you but they way the speak.”

I smiled “jayde I know how the boys are and trust me they talk about your curves.” I openly checked her out stopping at her thigh damn. I gulped she was so fucking beautiful

Feeling his eyes on me, I bit my lip again as my insides heated “you’re insane.” I whispered “I can only imagine the kind of woman you’re married to, and trust me.. I’m just plain.” I looked up at him, and couldn’t help but blurt out “I miss being touched.”

I looked up meeting her eyes. “I know how you feel.” I sighed knowing this was so wrong. “It’s been a long time for me as well. It sucks every night she doesn’t get home till late Macy is already in bed and the dinner I made is cold. She ignores it and goes straight for the shower then bed without a word most nights.” I blow out a big breath. “Fuck it feels good to let someone know the truth I’m living.”

“You should like the male version of myself. It’s lonely, and I hate it. I forgot what it feels like to be kissed and held. I don’t get anything except hate.” It did feel good to talk to someone, someone who understood
