Once upon a blizzard

“I’m not crazy.” I defended. “Your dick is still inside me and you’re telling me to go and see someone?” I was talking to him, wasn’t that enough. “You need to go back to work.” I moved off him, feeling even worse as I just walked out of the room and slammed the door.

“I’m not worried about money, I’m worried about you and the kids.” I kissed her head. “I want to get out of here! I want to see the kids and kiss them and hold them.”

“I just have to wait, the doctor needs to see me and then you of course.” I stayed laying, loving that he missed the kids. “I don’t want you to go back to work.”

I sighed. “First why does the doctor need to see you and second get them in here so we can go, thrid baby I have to work, I love my job yes it can be dangerous but I’ll be safe I promise, I just needed to get the kids out who weren’t there, it was my fault I knew I shouldn’t have gone back in but I had to make sure.”

I didn’t like that he was going back but I couldn’t do much about it. “Probably making sure my ribs are ok, I have two broken ones. The bruises look worse than the pain.” I sat up a little pulling my shirt up, I couldn’t tell him I was pregnant, not when I knew I was going to miscarriage and it would only crush him more.

I shook my head. “God baby I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to protect you.” I felt bad i wasn’t there because she was mad at me. I wasn’t there because I told her she should try to talk to someone. I wasn’t there because I was a ass.

“I don’t want to talk about it, I want to forget what happened that day.” I was about to get up when the doctor walked in with the nurse.

“I thought we would find you in here.” He smiled. “I have your prescription ready, it should help with the nausea and pain. Hopefully nothing like this morning. Take one as soon as you wake and another two hours later.” 

“Thankyou.” I took the white bag from him and slowly sat down on the chair. 

“Now, no more fires for a couple of weeks. You need to rest and heal your body. You’re lucky to be alive.” He reminded. “You’re both right to go home.”

I thank the doctor and looked at her. “Have you been ill?” I didn’t understand why she needed medicine. “Should you be staying and getting looked at more?”

I shook my head, “I didn’t want to tell you like this, but I’m six weeks pregnant. They found out when they done tests and I’ve been throwing up but it hurts because I have broken ribs.” I said unable to look at him

I sighed getting up and getting dressed groaning. “Okay so you take it easy and rest as much as possible I’ll be off work and I’ll help with stuff my mum too, I want you to pretty much not move!” I said hoping she would let loose this baby she would be hurt. “The camping trip?” I smiled. “I knew that was a goood trip!” I kissed her. “Let’s go see our kids!”

“It was a good trip, you were extra attentive that night.” I wrapped my arms around him and looked up “I love you, and I’m so relieved your safe. The kids have missed you so much but there is things we need to talk about, and I can’t not do anything. I have two kids to care for.” I would feel bad for making him do it all.

I smiled. “I love you too and you will be sitting and relaxing okay! I will help with the kids and so will my mum, please baby we need to keep you two safe. Your hurt and that isn’t good for either of you!” I kissed her. “So let’s talk what is it you want to talk about?0

“About what happened.” I said looking at him. “Unl we you want to not talk about it, but they were there for awhile before you came. I have to give a statement.”

I nodded. “I’ll come with you I don’t want you out of my sight. And are you talking about what my coworker said? Baby it’s not true, or are you taking about me telling you I think you should talk to someone I’m so sorry for that I wasn’t thinking.” I just wanted to relax and be happy.

“I’m talking about me being thrown into a wall and being beaten and about to be raped until I..” I felt tears coming. “Until I stabbed him in the neck then watched my ex husband shoot him in front of me. He was going to kill me.”

I pulled her to me. “Oh baby you did what you had to do and if I was there I would have done the same probably worse to them both.” I kissed her head. “Come on Let’s get going we need to hold our kids together.”

We got back to his mums house, and I couldn’t have held the kids any tighter. I had missed them so much. They were eager to see Bo, and wasn’t leaving him alone as I went and took a shower then laid in bed to rest up.

“Is jane ok?” Bo’s mums asked him.

I nodded. “She is just tired and sore. She will be just fine, I told her to rest as much as possible.” I looked over at the kids and smiled. “I’m so glad you had them that night.” I hugged her. “I’m going to watch a movie with them then check on Jane.”

I felt the bed shift, and rolled over slowly. “I’ve missed you. Was hoping you would come to bed soon.” I curled in close against his side, needing him close to me. “How are the kids? Are you feeling ok?”

I smiled. “When your in my arms I’m the happiest. The kids are sleeping now we watched a movie together. They are so happy we are together.”

“I know they are.” I smiled, looking up at him. “I really thought I was going to die. I’ve never been that scared in my life. I’m just relieved he’s gone for good. I have to tell the kids tomorrow.” I sighed.

I pulled her close. “I’ll be right there to help you and the kids get through it all of it.” I kissed her head. “I’m not going anyway baby.”

“I love you so much, I don’t think I could do this without you.” I said quietly. “You didn’t tell your mum about the pregnancy did you? I don’t want to tell anyone. I don’t think it’ll survive after the trauma my body went through.”

I sighed. “I didn’t tell her but I think she suspects something.” I kissed her. “We can only pray and keep you resting okay!” I wanted this baby to survive I wanted her to be happy.

He didn’t seem happy, I just nodded “I don’t want to tell her. And I can’t lay in bed not doing anything all day.” I couldn’t sit still, I needed to do something.

I sighed. “I get that I do but baby you need to stay calm and relaxed and in bed to protect the baby and heal.” I sat up and looked at her. “I feel if you loose the baby I’ll loose you, I don’t want that. I want you to be happy and feisty with me.” I didn’t want her thinking I wanted just the baby.
